Why did you choose the Master's program Simulation Sciences?

I applied for this study program because it provides an interdisciplinary approach to computer simulation that connects both natural and computer sciences. After my Bachelor's degree in computer science, this Master's program offers an application oriented direction for my future studies. Further the AICES program of the RWTH Aachen University, which I am part of, has a fast-track study program which overlaps the Master's thesis and the student's PhD work.

Why would you recommend the German Research School to other students worldwide?

The German Research School combines computer science with engineering and physics courses. This area in science is still young and needs to be explored. In addition, Simulation Sciences are becoming more and more important in engineering. There are only few people familiar with both computer simulations and engineering, which is why they are highly demanded in classical engineering as well as other areas including medicine, biology and quantum physics.

What are your plans for the future, once you have finished your Master's degree?

After my Master's degree, I want to continue my studies at the graduate school AICES to become a PhD.

Where and in what kind of industry or research would you like to work in the future?

I have not made a decision about this, yet. But I think I will stay in the computer science field in Simulation Sciences.

What do you do in your free time?

I do sports regularly and play an instrument as my main hobbies. Furthermore, I spend time with my friends from school or just do some other fun things.

How is living in Aachen?

Great - but I actually grew up in Aachen so my judgment might not be very objective. However, with the RWTH Aachen University and the Fachhochschule Aachen, this town has a lot of students which makes Aachen a very good place to study and live with equally minded people.
