Applications for admission as a doctoral candidate of the German Research School for Simulation Sciences can be submitted at any time. Decisions about admission will normally be made within eight weeks after receiving the complete application.
Applicants should have a Master's degree (or equivalent) in engineering or in natural sciences, with grades significantly above average. Previous experience in computer simulation methods and evidence of English-language skills are required.
The high qualification of the applicant must be confirmed by three referees, who should send individual letters of recommendation and fill in the templates (reference form). The application forms can be found here.
The chances of success of a speculative application increases if a potential supervisor is listed. In case of an application for a position in one of the associated groups ideas or suggestions for the thesis subject are welcome.
Please note, that only complete applications will be considered. A complete application includes the following documents:
• Completed application form (form, statement of academic purpose limited to one page)
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Master certificates (if already available at the time of the application)
• Transcript(s) of records
• Three recommendations (form plus letter)
For holders of a non-German first degree:
• TOEFL or IELTS certificate
If available / optional:
• GRE score
