Data Analysis and Visualization

Prof. Leif Kobbelt,  Torsten Kuhlen,  Paolo Carloni

Programme

The course is an introduction to computer graphics and visualization in computational engineering science. The main goal is to provide the understanding of the entire computer graphics and visualization pipeline from simulation raw data to meaningful images, animations, and interactive visualizations in 3-D space. Moreover, some virtual reality techniques and methods are faced.
Inside the course an introduction to biomolecular structure, secondary structure elements of proteins and graphical representations of proteins is provided. Exercises on visualization of a protein from the Protein Data Bank file and analysis of a molecular dynamics simulation dataset are performed.
